Green-Wood is looking for volunteers!
As a Volunteer, you will make rich connections with Green-Wood’s history and become a part of the unique and exciting work happening here. You will gain extensive knowledge about the historic, artistic, and natural significance of Green-Wood.
There are several ways to volunteer—but you don’t have to choose just one! We gladly welcome people who have interests in multiple areas.
Ambassadors — Green-Wood welcomes hundreds of visitors daily. Ambassadors spend time on the grounds or greeting visitors at the gates, assisting Green-Wood staff in spreading the word about our rules and best practices and providing visitors with general information, maps, and other assistance for daily operations and special programs. Click here to register as an ambassador and sign up for shifts.
Events — Green-Wood hosts hundreds of events each year, including tours, lectures, concerts, screenings, and more. Events volunteers assist with check in, hand out event materials, and lend a hand with other tasks. Volunteers are scheduled seasonally when the events calendar has been finalized, and on an as-needed basis. Click here to sign up as an event volunteer.
Archives and Historical Collections — Volunteers assist with the arrangement, description, and preservation of our archival holdings and participate in important research projects. Fill out the form below to inquire about opportunities to volunteer with this team. Please note: In-person volunteer and internship opportunities in this department are currently unavailable.
Welcome Cart — The Welcome Cart is the first stop for people visiting the Cemetery. You will assist with wayfinding, answer questions, and share your passion for Green-Wood with everyone who stops by! Maps, books, and select merchandise are available for sale. Please note: the Welcome Cart is currently closed.
