Important Rules

- Wear appropriate footwear, the Cemetery’s terrain is hilly and uneven.
- Use a flashlight, it gets dark here at night. Be mindful not to shine light in anyone’s eyes.
- Stay on the lit paths and do not wander away from event routes. Use this map linked above or ask a staffer for directions.
- Do not lean or sit on any gravestones or monuments.
- Please be respectful of others—no yelling, running, or horseplay.
- No outside alcohol is permitted. It will be confiscated before entry.
- Costumes, facepaint, and masks are not permitted.

For the ancient Egyptians, the journey to the afterlife was fraught with perils that the deceased had to navigate in order to be reborn. To ensure their success, they made sure that not only their tombs, but also their minds, were equipped with all the appropriate spells and knowledge they would need, and compiled all of the necessary information into helpful texts to guide them on their journey. These books of the netherworld functioned almost as a tourist guide for this dangerous realm, and would break down their journey through the night, hour by hour, so that every ancient Egyptian had the opportunity to overcome the passage of time for a chance at eternal life!
