Zen & The Art of Filming Family Interviews

This workshop offers a unique approach to capturing meaningful video interviews with families, guided by Zen Buddhist principles and a lens of contemplative care. We’ll explore how memory shapes our understanding of legacy, especially after significant life events like funerals or milestones in grief. In the serene setting of the Cemetery, we’ll reflect on how the landscape can inspire how we wish to be remembered, both physically and digitally.

Whether you’re new to video production or have experience, our facilitator Elyse Neiman Seiter will provide the tools and confidence to create authentic, lasting video stories. You’ll learn essential skills, including interview techniques, filming basics, storytelling, video editing, and how to build a meaningful legacy.
Elyse Neiman Seiter is an Emmy award-winning TV producer, director, and filmmaker with two decades of experience in non-fiction TV and film. Through her company, Mindful Films, she documents and shares personal stories around illness, healing, and end-of-life.
This workshop will take place both indoors and outdoors (weather permitting).
