Roots of Tomorrow: Arbor Day Family Tree Planting

Join us at Green-Wood for a day of environmental stewardship and community as we celebrate Arbor Day with our “Roots of Tomorrow” family tree planting event! Bring your loved ones and become a part of a greener future by planting trees together. This event aims to foster environmental awareness, promote family involvement, and beautify our community.
We’ll gather at the Sunset Park Entrance (35th Street and Fourth Avenue), where you’ll work with Green-Wood’s seasoned horticulturalists and educators to plant trees and learn more about their important role in our ecosystem.

Before Registering, Please Note:
- Attendees must follow ALL instructions and guidance from Cemetery staff and ambassadors.
- Tickets: This event is free but registration is required. Families may register at the event if there are available places left.
- Where To Go: please enter the Cemetery and check in at the Sunset Park Entrance at Fourth Avenue and 35th Street. Cemetery staff will direct you to the nearby planting area
- For Your Safety: We strongly encourage attendees to wear suitable attire for planting trees outdoors, taking weather into account. Closed-toe shoes are mandatory. Participants wearing improper footwear may not be able to assist in all tasks for their safety. All gloves, equipment and other materials will be provided and distributed at the discretion of Cemetery staff.
- Accessibility: This event takes place outdoors and involves walking, standing, bending, lifting, shoveling, and touching dirt and mulch.
- Inclement Weather Policy: We monitor the weather throughout the day for the best chance of proceeding with this event, and will not make a final decision until at least 3 hours before the start of the tour. Cancellations will be announced via Eventbrite email blasts, so check your email and spam folders.There is no rain date for this event.
