Death is a part of life—so why don’t we talk about it more? Join Gabrielle Gatto, a death doula and Green-Wood manager of public programs, along with fellow death doulas for an open conversation about end-of-life planning, grief, and the ritual-based and practical aspects of death. Death doulas provide non-medical support and guidance to those facing the end of life, giving them a unique perspective on the challenges that death brings. Whether you have specific questions or are simply curious, these are the experts to turn to for insight and conversation.

As a Green-Wood member, you’re invited to this exclusive preview of Ask a Death Doula, which offers a glimpse of what’s to come at Sunday at the Cemetery—an open-house style day of death education featuring guided walking tours, expert panels, and movement workshops on Sunday, May 4, 2025. This is your chance to engage with experts and explore these topics in a more intimate setting before the public event!

Before Purchasing A Ticket, Please Note:
- Attendees must follow ALL instructions and guidance from Cemetery staff and volunteers.
- Tickets: There is no need to print tickets! Attendees will be checked in by name.
- Where To Go: This program will take place at the Modern Chapel near the Main Entrance at Fifth Avenue and 25th Street (500 25th Street).
- Accessibility & Safety: The Modern Chapel is not fully ADA compliant, however, accommodations for entrance can be made for visitors using wheelchairs or other mobility aids. Before reserving tickets, we encourage visitors to contact our staff with any questions regarding accommodations and accessibility at 718-210-3080, ext. 1, or events@green-wood.com.
- Refunds and exchanges: Ticket sales are final. No exchanges or refunds unless the tour is canceled. If a rain date is scheduled, tickets will be honored only on that date.
- Inclement Weather Policy: We monitor the weather throughout the day for the best chance of proceeding with the tour, and will not make a final decision until at least 3 hours before the start of the tour. Cancellations will be announced via Eventbrite email blasts, so check your email and spam folders.
- Feeling Sick? Stay home if you are feeling sick or running a fever.
- Your membership must be active at the time of the event. Each member is allowed a number of member tickets in line with their membership benefits. Purchases that do not follow these guidelines may be canceled and refunded. Please click here to view ticket allowances for members only events.
