Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Landmarks Law with a tour celebrating Green-Wood’s connections to beloved NYC landmarks. With expert tour guide Matt Postal, study two New York City landmarks, including Richard Upjohn and Son’s magnificent gothic archway (celebrating its 150th birthday this year), as well as several sites with landmark connections – like a 1911 chapel by Warren and Wetmore; the monuments of architects including Gamaliel King (Brooklyn Borough Hall), James Renwick (St. Patrick’s Cathedral), and James McComb (Gracie Mansion, City Hall); a mausoleum designed by the renowned Stanford White, and more.
Matt Postal is an architectural historian and licensed New York City tour guide. Matt teaches graduate classes on New York’s 19th and 20th century architecture, researches and writes designation reports for the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission, and has been leading popular walking tours throughout the five boroughs since 1990.
This program is part of NYC Landmarks50 Alliance, the multi-year celebration of the 50th anniversary of New York City’s Landmarks Law.
