All Sunday, August 28th Battle of Brooklyn tours and events are CANCELED due to weather. Please check www.green-wood.com or call 718-210-3080 for updates. Green-Wood will be reaching out as soon as possible to ticket-holders using available contact information.
Please know that:
- Paid tour tickets will be honored for any other Green-Wood tour anytime.
- You may also opt to donate the cost of your tickets to the Green-Wood Historic Fund and receive an acknowledgement of your tax-deductible contribution.
- We will process a refund, if you cannot, or do not wish to, attend another tour.

The Battle of Brooklyn, fought in August 1776 on land that is now a part of Green-Wood Cemetery, was the first battle of the American Revolution to be waged after the signing of the Declaration of Independence. In memory of the brave patriots who battled for our country’s independence, The Green-Wood Historic Fund hosts a day of free commemoration ceremonies and trolley tours. Great event for kids! 10:00 AM – TROLLEY TOUR: Join author Barnet Schecter and Green-Wood Cemetery historian Jeff Richman. $10 for members of The Green-Wood Historic Fund / $20 for non-members. THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT, but please join us for the day’s other festivities listed below.
12:30 PM – REVOLUTIONARY WAR RE-ENACTORS: Takes place in Green-Wood’s Meadow at the Gothic Arch. Free.
1:30 PM – BATTLE OF BROOKLYN PARADE: Meet at the main gate for a parade to Battle Hill. Free.
2:00 PM – BATTLE OF BROOKLYN COMMEMORATIVE CEREMONY: The ceremony will take place on Battle Hill. Free.
