(Sold Out) Encampment: Fireside Tales and Tunes

Mark the 240th anniversary of the Battle of Brooklyn with a truly revolutionary night. As you sip a drink and stroll the twilight landscape, Revolutionary War soldiers will illustrate life in the midst of a battle - setting up camp among Green-Wood’s hills, cooking, socializing, and steeling themselves for the next day's battle. Of course, the battles we modern New Yorkers face are not with the British, but often ourselves. By the light of the fire, Susan Kent of TELL IT: BROOKLYN will host an outdoor storytelling program that takes on battles of the body, spirit, and mind. Seasoned storytellers will take the stage, but attendees so inclined to tell their own battle story can throw their hat in the ring, too. The songwriting duo Charming Disaster will provide musical interludes.

(Sold Out) Hamilton: The Trolley Tour

An encore performance! Hamilton is a smash hit on Broadway, and these days the man and his legacy are all the rage. Now you can get your fill of the saga at Green-Wood! Although Alexander himself rests elsewhere, many family members and those who crossed his path are interred here. Led by historian Jeff Richman, you’ll visit Robert Troup, Hamilton's college roommate with whom he had a lifelong close relationship; William Peter Van Ness, who was Burr's “second” during that fateful duel; Hamilton's son, John, who spent years studying his father’s history; Hamilton's grandchildren, Elizabeth and Schuyler; William Livingston, who served in the Constitutional Congress with Hamilton; and many others. You’ll also discuss the Battle of Brooklyn – fought on land that is now part of Green-Wood – and Hamilton's role in that battle, the largest of the American Revolution.

Green-Wood’s public programs are made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature, as well as the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs.
